The ceiling of a 14-month old child’s room collapsed in sections, leaving frightened parents and children.
Bailey Marshall, 27 has said that she feels unsafe at home now after heavy rainfall caused a quarter of the hall ceiling to collapse, as well as portions of the ceiling of Olyver’s bedroom.
Pier Management has responded to the apartment within 24 hours and made a temporary fix to the ceiling. The electrics have been confirmed as safe, but the damage is believed to be caused by the heavy rain.
The family in Anchor Lane Canewdon is concerned about the safety of their house and wants urgent repairs.
Bailey stated: “It fell in the bedroom of my son and you can see all the wood, metal and holes that have fallen. It’s disgusting. Whoever did this is a Cowboy.
The fear that we live in is the one for my son, my first born, who has been to A&E many times. It is now coming down into his room. What if it falls while we’re sleeping?
Bailey said that her situation is being highlighted after the ceiling fell in November 6 to let other families “know they are not alone.”
Bailey stated: “We’re stuck, and we’re unable to leave, and we’re not sure if we’ll be able to stay in our bedrooms any longer. I received a phone call from the Council, and although they aren’t normally involved, they wanted to know what they could do to assist. They know that we signed a contract, but also know the condition of our roof and how badly it’s damaged.
Pier Management spokesperson said that Pier appointed a third-party to manage the property, and their agent was in constant communication with affected residents.
The agent will also be receiving quotes for temporary roof repairs to stop further leakage.
Residents in the building have received their share of cost as stipulated in the lease agreement.
