In the community, more than half the actions of Firefighters were to cut trees.
In response to Friday’s intense rainfall and high winds in the metro area that caused flooding, the National Fire Department (DNB), carried out twenty interventions.
Simon Burlon told Subrayado, the spokesperson for the Firefighters, that out of 20 interventions in Montevideo, Canelones, and San Jose, twelve were tree-cutting, five inspections, two evacuations, and one roof-blasting.
The Emergency Service began to receive calls after 2:30 pm. Information provided covers incidents up until Friday evening at 6pm.
The Municipality of Montevideo received 602 requests via WhatsAap, 092 250 262. Three hundred and twenty-one of those requests were related to sanitation and drainage, including 51 storm drains. The other two eighty-one concerns fallen branches and trees. To respond to requests, the commune has several teams: Four with backhoes or trucks to work with watercourses; seven manual teams, four sanitation repair teams, five clearing crews; 18 work crews and nine crews to work with trees and branches.
