Following the incident, fire crews set up a cordon along Prince Regent Street

After a car crash in Stockton, a person was taken to the hospital.

A car had collided into the popular Italian restaurant Carpaccio on Prince Regent Street at its intersection with Dovecot Street. Fire, police, and ambulance were all called. Emergency services were seen rushing to the scene, setting up a cordon and diverting traffic away from this busy street.

The fire crews saw them smashing the windscreen and removing it completely. The man then was taken off the car and placed on a stretcher, before being loaded into the back of the ambulance. North East Ambulance Service confirmed that it transported one patient to University Hospital of North Tees Stockton.

There were two cordons erected – one between Carpaccio’s and the Domino’s Takeaway Shop, the other from KU Bar. The fire engine and Carpaccio were separated by green sheets, while an orange cloth was placed on the vehicle’s windscreen to prevent motorists from seeing the restaurant.

Owner of Carpaccio confirms that there was damage to the front, however the restaurant remains open. Jawad mohibi, who was at the scene of the accident and spoke to Teesside Live: “The damage is on the front – the skirting boards have popped off. The wood has also moved forward at the front.”

I have spoken to the contractor and they’ll come as soon as the incident is cleared. The incident happened around 11.18am. We had two girls with us at that time, and a 12pm table was booked. “We had to let the customers into the restaurant through the rear door.”

It has not yet been confirmed if this vehicle was involved in the incident. It is not known if this BMW was involved. A North East Ambulance Service spokeswoman said that they were called to the road traffic accident on Dovecot Street in Stockton at 11:21 am. A double-crewed ambulance was dispatched and a patient was taken to North Tees Hospital.

Cleveland Fire Brigade added that: “We received a call on 11 December at 11.27am for an incident in Stockton on Dovecot Street. Stockton had two fire engines on scene. A car accident.

The crews stabilised and assessed the vehicle, and then removed the person who was taken into care by NEAS. “We left the scene around 1.56pm.”
